Guide to Intercession

Dear Father in heaven,

We praise you for your goodness;

We praise you for your love and mercy;

We praise you for your justice.

Glory be to you our God and Father, Lord Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit our comforter. We thank you for the privilege and honour of partnering with you in bringing your kingdom to the hearts of all. We come to you now in faith and trust, and in the name of Jesus Christ, to pray for our world.

Lord, we are saddened and troubled by poverty, homelessness and hunger in our world. We are deeply troubled by greed, workers who are exploited, children and adults in slavery and servitude. We pause now to hear the cries of those who suffer and to pray for them… Lord, increase our generosity and move us to help those trapped in these inhumane situations. Our Father in Heaven, we pray: let your kingdom come and let your will be done.

Lord, we know your heart of compassion for the orphan, the widow and the refugee, for those alone and afraid and for those with no voice or status. We pause now to feel your compassion towards them… Lord, you see these dear ones, and you don’t forget their names. Move us to befriend, love, care and support those in such need. Our Father, we pray: let your kingdom come and let your will be done.

Lord, we grieve that many of our fellow Australians have turned their back on you and ignore your mercy and love. We see materialism, greed, envy and violence in our land. Father, forgive our nation. We pause to listen to your Spirit… Lord, we pray for the children and the young people of this nation that you would turn their hearts to you and send us out with the blazing torch of the good news of Jesus to light the dark places. Our Father, we pray: let your kingdom come and let your will be done.

Lord, we want to pray for our church here at Kew Baptist. We thank you that you have allowed us to serve you and hold out the light of Jesus Christ for these last 160 years. Lord, only you know the future, but we would ask you this: make this church strong in the power of your Spirit, make us healthy and overflowing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ, encourage and comfort us by your Holy Spirit, let your love fill our hearts and our fellowship, grant us wisdom to do your will, and enable us to live lives of worship and reverence toward you, and add to our number those being saved. Our Father, we pray: let your kingdom come and let your will be done.
