NightChurch News, 15 March

THIS WEEK @ NIGHTCHURCH: We will continue our series “Church. What’s The Point?” with Paul Pallot preaching on the message of Jesus. Marny Croot is leading the service, Stefan van Boxtel is organising the music team, Tim Mitchell is on audio/data, Jane Horton will lead in prayer, Leonie Marshman will be providing supper, and Simon Pickering is convening. Thanks everyone.

EASTER @ KBC: Only three weeks until Easter! Click here to see what’s on at Kew Baptist for Easter Week.

EQUIP – DISCIPLESHIP, MENTORING & LEADERSHIP: Following on from some excellent leadership training nights last year, we have set in place four events for this year. The aim of these nights is to encourage and equip people in the church to be better leaders and followers of Christ by being mentored and taught by mature and wise Christian leaders. Some of the areas to be explored are:

  • Christ-likeness in life and leadership
  • Refining both internal character and external actions
  • Leading teams and running effective meetings
  • How to recruit and motivate volunteers

So put these dates in your schedule now: 16 April (Peter Corney), 11 June (Peter Corney), 10 September (Peter Corney), 12 November (TBA).

HOSPITALITY SUNDAY: Sign up this week to join in/host a meal with others from Kew Baptist on Sunday 26 April. Clipboards will be passed around at both services.  Don’t miss out – if you are away this Sunday, contact Deirdre Willis.

WORKING BEE: The church working bee is on this Saturday 14 March, 8am-12pm. Even if you can just get along for an hour, any help would be appreciated! www.facebook.com/events/747517035343615

RELAY FOR LIFE: Get amongst this awesome event that will be heaps of fun, all for a worthy cause as we raise much needed funds for the Cancer Council. Check out the event page on Facebook and follow the links to get yourself signed up. Team name is ‘Kew Student Res’, team captain is Graeme Younger, cost is $20. Everyone welcome to join! www.facebook.com/events/1574821256098576

SHAVE FOR A CURE: Phil Prior is participating in the World’s Greatest Shave this year. He has already raised over $1000 – thanks to all those who have donated so far. If he raises $2000, he will also shave off his beard and leave it clean shaven for a minimum two weeks – something he hasn’t done for over 10 years! To donate, you can see Phil at church or donate online: http://tinyurl.com/olqpno7

PRAYER BREAKFASTS: We run a weekly Prayer Breakfast on Tuesday mornings, 7-8am in The Lounge (upstairs in the hall). Put it in your schedule and start the day with worship, prayer, food and friends at KBC. Remember you can also join our 5pm prayer gathering before the service in the church building.

TITHING: A reminder that you can give your weekly offering via direct debit to the church account.

That’s all for this edition of NightChurch News – Steve Pattison.
