THIS WEEK @ NIGHTCHURCH: James Docking is leading the service, as we welcome guest speaker Dennis Pethers (www.dennispethers.com) from the UK to preach. Tom Tuena is organising the music team, Coby Docking will lead in prayer, Paul Pallot is convening, Phil Prior and Timothy Mitchell are on audio/data, and Romona and Luke Boswell are providing supper. Thanks everyone.
TERM 3 SERIES: On Sunday night we kicked off our Term 3 series on the Seven Letters from Jesus to the churches in the Book of Revelation. Nicholas has prepared a study guide and journal which can be used weekly in small groups to follow up on the previous Sunday’s message. The guide will also give you ways to personally reflect and pray about the themes in the letters. Make sure you grab a copy! A donation to cover printing costs would be appreciated.
CATALYST GROUP @ KBC: Kew Baptist Church has recently started a Catalyst group. This group is looking at poverty in developing countries as well as consumerism and the link that can play in ending poverty. There will be a fortnightly study happening at The House from 7.30pm on Tuesday, starting 6th August. The study is called End of Greed and is released by Baptist World Aid and looks at global issues to do with poverty and how we can act justly and with integrity in an age of consumerism. If you’re interested in being involved in the study, please contact Laura Baker because spots are limited.
FOR THE LOVE OF NIGER: Come along to Brunswick St on Saturday 3 August and hear some of Melbourne’s very best local bands and artists. Featuring: Tom Tuena, Iris, and Moon Republic at The Evelyn Hotel, on Brunswick St Fitzroy, doors open 8.30pm. All profits from the evening will go to pay for students’ school fees in Niger, West Africa. Our goal is to raise $3,500 to pay school fees for 15 high school students in Niger, who would not be able to afford this education otherwise. An auction on the night will be one of the main ways of raising this money. If you have any items at home that you would like to donate to be auctioned for the fundraiser (cameras, computers, instruments, bikes etc) please contact Mat.
ORGANIC EVANGELISM: How do we serve our communities and share our faith? Come along to the ‘Organic Evangelism’ event and hear from special guest speaker Dennis Pethers on Saturday 3 August, 10am-4pm at Balwyn Baptist Church. Cost $10 (includes lunch), RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org or 9880 6100.
GUYS’ NIGHT: We’re having a guys’ night on Saturday 10 August at the Winfield Estate. Come over from 7pm and we’ll hang out together and watch the footy, Collingwood vs Sydney.
LOVE ABBOTSFORD: Love Abbotsford is back again! Please join us on Saturday 17 August as we spread the love to the housing estates on Hoddle Street. As a church, we want to show practical love to those living on the housing estates by providing the kids there with some fun and entertainment on Saturday. We’ll run a BBQ, play basketball and soccer, have live music, and some fun stuff (balloon animals? facepainting?) to entertain the younger children. If you can help for all or part of the day, that would be great! And if you have any other fun ideas of things we could do, please let us know! Contact Paul Pallot for more information.
