NightChurch News, 8 November

This Week @ NightChurch

We continue our ‘Fruitfulness on the Frontline’ series, with Paul Pallot preaching on the theme ‘Truth & Justice’. Alice Hore-Lacy is leading the service, Stefan van Boxtel is organising the music team, Zach Moore and Tim Mitchell are on audio/data, James Docking will lead in prayer, Hannah O’Brien will be providing supper, and Graeme Younger is convening. Thanks everyone.

You’re invited to stick around after the service to share dinner together, with another of our fantastic small groups catering for us this week! A $5 donation would be much appreciated to keep costs minimal.

Office Volunteers Required

We need volunteers to help out in the church office from Mon 30 Nov – Fri 18 Dec, while our administrator is on leave. Tasks include checking emails and phone messages, editing and printing newsletters, and other small admin jobs. If you are available to assist on a weekday for 1-2hrs (morning or afternoon), please contact the office (info@kewbaptist.net.au). We are hoping to put together a roster of volunteers to cover this time.

2016 Global Exposure Trip

Kew Baptist Church will be leading a Global Exposure trip to South East Asia in 2016 (either July or September) to visit some of our supported cross-cultural mission workers. If you are interested in getting involved, or simply finding out more, please contact Paul Pallot with your expression of interest: paul@kewbaptist.net.au.

Summer Mission: Blue Moose (Wye River)

The ‘Blue Moose’ beach mission at Wye River this summer (28 Dec – 8 Jan) is looking to recruit more team members. If you’re interested in getting involved with a summer mission trip, check out the details here: www.youthdimension.org.au/bluemoose/summer

Coming Events:

  • “The True Cost” Screening: Tuesday 10 November, 7pm at NewHope Baptist (Blackburn North). The price of clothing has been decreasing for decades, while the human and environmental costs have grown dramatically. “The True Cost” is a ground-breaking documentary film that pulls back the curtain on the untold story and asks us to consider, who really pays the price for our clothing? Come along and watch the film at this screening event: facebook.com/events/1003409896345990
  • For Your Consideration: This is an annual lecture series that aims to address the ideas, beliefs, taboos and issues that shape and drive our culture. There will be six talks over three Thursday nights in November, 6pm at The Ponds. The first event is coming up on Thursday 12 November, featuring talks on ‘Cosmology & Theism’ and ‘Emotional Memory in Early Life’. facebook.com/events/722448031194150
  • KBC Working Bee: Saturday 14 November, 8am-1pm. There are jobs of all shapes and sizes that need doing across our properties, and we’d love for you to lend a hand! Come when you can, leave when you must. A sausage sizzle lunch will be provided afterwards. facebook.com/events/782826998506782
  • Love Abbotsford: Sunday 15 November, 12:30-4:30pm at the Housing Estates on 229 Hoddle St. The usual BBQ, music, face painting, sports, hanging out with people. A chance for us to continue to build relationships with the people there. Contact Mary-Anne Philip for more info. Everyone welcome!

Mission Prayer Breakfast

We run a weekly Mission Prayer Breakfast on Tuesday mornings, 7-8am in The Lounge (upstairs in the hall). Come and share fellowship before you face the rest of your day! Remember you can also join our 5pm prayer gathering on Sundays before the service in the church building.
