On the 31 Jan and 1 Feb, over 25 leaders at KBC met together to seek God and share with each other about the year ahead.
To set the scene for our time together this is what we considered before we met:
I’m (Nicholas) reading through the Bible at the moment and have just gone through Exodus. This event with Moses and God on Mount Sinai stood out to me and I share it with you.
Moses and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and the seventy elders of Israel went up and saw the God of Israel. Under his feet was something like a pavement made of lapis lazuli, as bright blue as the sky. But God did not raise his hand against these leaders of the Israelites; they saw God, and they ate and drank (Exodus 24:9–11).
And when the young church hit some of its first challenges about how to integrate strict Jewish religious practices with non-Jewish followers of Jesus, how did they respond?
The apostles and elders met to consider this question (Ac 15:6).
I want this time to be about seeing God afresh, like the leaders of ancient Israel, and also to consider some questions for our church. And to eat and drink together with God ad each other. It’s a time to pray, prepare for the year, and nurture and strengthen our relationships with one another.
