The truth is I have never been big on vision statements for church communities. I have mostly believed that the vision question was settled by Jesus with the Great Commandment to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, and to love our neighbour as ourselves; and the Great Commission to go into all the world with the good news of Jesus and make disciples of all peoples. However, in recent years I have grown in conviction that local churches do need to work on the vision question. That questions is: How will we fulfil the Great Commandment and the Great Commission in our particular geographical location and at this particular time in history?
To this end around 22 leaders across our whole church spent a day a few weeks ago praying and considering this question. At this stage we have come together around the following: over the next 5 years at KBC we see…
