NightChurch News, 1 November

This Week @ NightChurch

We continue our series ‘Fruitfulness on the Frontline’, with Nicholas Tuohy preaching on the theme ‘Mould Culture’. Rachel Bakker is leading the service, Luke Evans is organising the music team, TBC and Anita Pallot are on audio/data, Amanda Tuohy will lead in prayer, Rachel Bakker and Bree Monahan will be providing supper, and Rachel Bakker is convening. Thanks everyone.

You’re invited to stick around after the service for dinner, which will be provided by the lovely residents of The House! A $5 donation would be much appreciated to keep costs minimal.

Office Volunteers Required

We are looking for volunteers to help out in the church office from Mon 30 Nov – Fri 18 Dec, while our administrator is on leave. Tasks include checking emails and phone messages, editing and printing newsletters, and other small admin jobs. If you are available to assist on a weekday for 1-2hrs (morning or afternoon), please contact the office ( We are hoping to put together a roster of volunteers to cover this time.

Coming Events:

  • “The True Cost” Screening: Tuesday 10 November, 7pm at NewHope Baptist (Blackburn North). The price of clothing has been decreasing for decades, while the human and environmental costs have grown dramatically. “The True Cost” is a groundbreaking documentary film that pulls back the curtain on the untold story and asks us to consider, who really pays the price for our clothing? Come along and watch the film at this screening event:
  • For Your Consideration: This is an annual lecture series that aims to address the ideas, beliefs, taboos and issues that shape and drive our culture. There will be six talks over three Thursday nights in November, 6pm at The Ponds (14a Milfay Ave, Moonee Ponds). The first event is coming up on Thursday 12 November, featuring talks on ‘Cosmology & Theism’ and ‘Emotional Memory in Early Life’.
  • KBC Working Bee: Saturday 14 November, 8am-1pm. There are jobs of all shapes and sizes that need doing across our properties, and we’d love for you to lend a hand! Come when you can, leave when you must. A sausage sizzle lunch will be provided afterwards.

Mission Prayer Breakfast

We run a weekly Mission Prayer Breakfast on Tuesday mornings, 7-8am in The Lounge (upstairs in the hall). We are serving porridge (delicious!) as part of breakfast – something to warm you up before you face the rest of the day. Don’t miss out! Remember you can also join our 5pm prayer gathering on Sundays before the service in the church building.

A reminder that you can give your offering via direct transfer to the church account.
