NightChurch News, 15 November

This Week @ NightChurch

We continue our ‘Fruitfulness on the Frontline’ series, with Nicholas Tuohy preaching on the theme ‘Gospel Messenger’. We will also share in communion together. Ben Ramsay is leading the service, Lauren Morgan is organising the music team, Stuart Mackenzie and Mel Morris are on audio/data, Mel Hill will lead in prayer, Leonie Marshman will be providing supper, Rachel Bakker and Simon Pickering will be available for prayer after the service, and Bree Monahan is convening. Thanks everyone.

This Sunday night after church, ROX Café is again opening its doors for us for dinner. So from 7:30pm, get down to 246 High Street in Kew Junction (5min walk from church) for Louie’s finest dinner. Never done the ROX dinner before? Open your account this Sunday, as our fine dining will be to the live acoustic tunes of our very own Tim Richardson, known with his friend James as the duo “Wolf and Willow”. Dinner? Live music? Be there.

NightChurch Summer Retreat

From 11-13 December, the annual NightChurch Summer Retreat will be happening! It’ll be a low-key weekend away for anyone and everyone from NightChurch, somewhere in the bush, with an emphasis on low-cost accommodation, relaxation and good times. Put the dates in your diary, tell your friends, and watch this space for more details!

Office Volunteers Required

We need volunteers to help out in the church office from Mon 30 Nov – Fri 18 Dec, while our administrator is on leave. Tasks include checking emails and phone messages, editing and printing newsletters, and other small admin jobs. If you are available to assist on a weekday for 1-2hrs (morning or afternoon), please contact the office ( We are hoping to put together a roster of volunteers to cover this time.

2016 Global Exposure Trip

Kew Baptist Church will be leading a Global Exposure trip to South East Asia in 2016 (either July or September) to visit some of our supported cross-cultural mission workers. If you are interested in getting involved, or simply finding out more, please contact Paul Pallot: Initial expressions of interest are needed by the end of the year.

Coming Events:

  • For Your Consideration: This is an annual lecture series that aims to address the ideas, beliefs, taboos and issues that shape and drive our culture. There will be six talks over three Thursday nights in November, 6pm at The Ponds. The first event is coming up on Thursday 12 November, featuring talks on ‘Cosmology & Theism’ and ‘Emotional Memory in Early Life’.
  • KBC Working Bee: Saturday 14 November, 8am-1pm. There are jobs of all shapes and sizes that need doing across our properties, and we’d love for you to lend a hand! Come when you can, leave when you must. A sausage sizzle lunch will be provided afterwards.
  • Love Abbotsford: Sunday 15 November, 12:30-4:30pm at the Housing Estates on 229 Hoddle St. The usual BBQ, music, face painting, sports, hanging out with people. A chance for us to continue to build relationships with the people there. Contact Mary-Anne Philip for more info. Everyone welcome!

Mission Prayer Breakfast

We run a weekly Mission Prayer Breakfast on Tuesday mornings, 7-8am in The Lounge (upstairs in the hall). Come and share fellowship before you face the rest of your day! Remember you can also join our 5pm prayer gathering on Sundays before the service in the church building.

A reminder that you can give your offering via direct transfer to the church account.
