‘ABSOLUTE TRUTH’ ROUNDTABLE: Many people, especially those who claim to be atheists or postmodernists, claim that truth is relative. What’s true for me might not be true for you, and vice versa. We have to tolerate and accept everyone’s opinions without passing judgement. However, is it true that there is no such thing as absolute truth? Come along to the roundtable discussion this Wednesday 12 September, 6.30pm at Chapel Hall, CrossCulture Church of Christ (333 Swanston St, entry via Little Lonsdale St). Speakers include Jono Newmarch and Abrahm Gunn.

‘SPRING PONG’ – TABLE TENNIS FUNDRAISER: Saturday 15 September, 11am in the hall. Play table tennis to help raise funds for a children’s malaria hospital in Kenya.

VALIANT MAN COURSE: Valiant Man is an 11 week course designed to help men, young and old, to discover their own moral and spiritual vitality. It has been written by Allan Meyer, who presents through video, which is then followed by discussion in small groups with confidentiality being observed. The sessions covered are:

1         A Vision for Manhood

2         The Sexual Man

3         The Cycle of Addiction

4         Retraining Your Brain

5         Guarding Your Heart

6         The Arena of Healing

7         The Origin, Power and Purpose of Sex

8         The Understanding Man

9         Taking a Stand

10     Realistic Expectations

CARRICAL BBQ: Once a month a team from KBC puts on a BBQ dinner at Carrical (boarding house in Hawthorn) – they bring along some food and spend time with the guys there, getting to know them and forming relationships with people in our local community. The next BBQ is happening on Saturday 22 September. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Grace Loh.

‘INSIGHTS FROM THE INSIDERS’ – A NIGHT WITH SPORTS CHAPLAINS: Saturday 6 October, 6.30pm at church hall. Featuring chaplains from AFL, Cricket Victoria and more. Dinner will be served and sports memorabilia auctioned. Funds raised will go toward the ministry of Leena Lavanya and ServeTrust. Tickets $25 per person or $50 per family, book at:

GUILTY PLEASURE is a charity focused on educating people about the harmful effects of pornography and connecting those who are addicted to it with professional help. Two events are coming up on Saturday 6 October:

  • Men’s Breakfast (8am) – Let’s talk turkey about porn with Dr Allan Meyer, author of ‘Good Man to Valiant Man’ and ex Porn Producer Donny Pauling. Hear personal testimonies about how men have overcome their struggles with lust. Cost $30 including breakfast.  Register online:
  • Meet an Ex Porn Producer (7.30pm) – How did a Pastor’s Son become a Porn Producer? Donny Pauling will share his story along with Dr Allan Meyer who will be talking about sexuality. EXPLORING BAPTISM AND CHURCH MEMBERSHIP: Tuesdays @ 7.30-9pm, October 16, 23, 30. Have you ever wondered what baptism and church membership are all about? We would love to have you come along to find out a bit more. You don’t have to get baptised at the end of the course, and you can ask any questions you want! 25 WORDS: For the month of October, Bible Society is running the Live Light in 25 Words campaign, aimed at encouraging and inspiring individuals to establish a daily habit of reading their bibles (at least 25 words every day).
