NightChurch News 24 Nov

THIS WEEK @ NIGHTCHURCH: We have the Res End of Year celebration service. Stephen Chatelier is speaking, Katie Adams is organising the music team, Katie Cantwell is convening, Luke Boswell and James Hayes are on audio/data, and Nic Barclay and Crispin Newmarch are providing supper. There will also be pizzas provided after the service for just $5 – money raised will go towards the Vietnam mission trip in January.

TRIVIA NIGHT: On Thursday 21 November from 7.30pm to 10pm, NightChurch will be hosting a Trivia Night in the church hall! Come along and join a table for just $10 per person, or organise your own table of 8 for $70. Invite some friends, bring your A-game, get competitive or just have a fun relaxed evening together. Basic supper will be provided, but feel free to bring something more gourmet for your table to enjoy if that’s how you roll. For more information or to pre-book, please contact Paul Pallot or Luke and Romona Boswell. FB event:

CHURCH SERVING BEE: Saturday 23 November, 8am-1pm. Come along and help us get the church/hall cleaned up and organised! There is a list of jobs in the church foyer – feel free to add your name, or add any jobs you think we’ve missed. Come when you can, leave when you must. Morning tea will be provided! Contact Phil Prior for more details.

KEW COMMUNITY CAROLS: Sunday 1 December from 6pm. There will be a community market with stalls providing ethical options for Christmas gifts. There will also be food stalls, a sausage sizzle and kids’ activities. The carols program will commence at 7.30pm. Please note that there will be no NightChurch service on this evening. Come to the carols instead! We would love you to help in any way you can – general setup, running the sausage sizzle, face-painting and kids’ activities, etc. Please talk to Nick or Laura about how you can get involved!

PING PONG-A-THON 2013: 20-30 men from churches in Melbourne’s inner northern suburbs are needed on Nov 22-23 to participate in the upcoming 2013 Ping Pong-A-Thon, an event that will see 300 blokes across Melbourne/Adelaide raise $100,000 for seven amazing organisations who protect/care for children and teens impacted by human trafficking and sexual exploitation. To participate, men simply:

1. Register online at

2. Commit to playing table tennis for a three hour period during the event.

3. Invite their family/friends/church to sponsor their participation.

This is a unique, fun event that helps Aussie blokes of all ages stand up for justice.  The Melbourne City event is held at Fitzroy North Church of Christ but men can participate in other venues around Melbourne. If you’d like to sponsor the team please visit:

WEBSITE OF THE WEEK: This week I thought I’d feature the sermon Temples Will Fall (Luke 21:5-19) preached recently by Nathan Nettleton pastor of South Yarra Community Baptist Church. Download the MP3 file at or read the transcript at I found this sermon encouraged me to trust God regardless of how life turns out.

That’s all for this edition of NightChurch News – Steve Pattison.
