NightChurch News 28 October

THIS SUNDAY: Jono Davenport is leading the service as we kick off our three-part series on ‘God, Love, Sex n Stuff’ with Nicholas Tuohy as our speaker. Grace Lawry is organising the music team, Andrew Crawford will lead in prayer, Zach Moore and Jadon Dutra are on audio/data, Lauren Morgan and Steph Ward are providing supper, and Mel Hill is convening. Thanks everyone.

WORKING BEE: This Saturday 27 October there is a working bee at the church property from 8am-12pm. The last couple of working bees have been a bit lacking in numbers, so it’d be great to have a strong showing from the NightChurch crew this weekend – whether you can be there for the whole morning or even just an hour, we’d love your help! Jobs to be done include general tidying, dusting, gardening, clearing rubbish into skip, etc.

NIGHTCHURCH CAMP: Friday 2 November – Sunday 4 November in Buninyong (near Ballarat). Cost for the whole weekend is $30 (meals and tents provided). This Sunday night is your last chance to register!

CARRICAL BBQ: Once a month a team from KBC puts on a BBQ dinner at Carrical Rooming House in Hawthorn (18 Mason St) – they bring along some food and spend time with the guys there, getting to know them and forming relationships with people in our local community. The next BBQ is happening on Saturday 27 October. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Grace Loh or Steve Taylor.

WORSHIP ROSTER CORRECTION: Please note there is an error in the current Term 4 Worship Roster. ‘Carols in the Park’ is actually on Sunday 2 December, which means our Summer Mission Commissioning Service will now be swapped to Sunday 9 December. Anyone rostered on for either of those services will be advised by separate email of the updated arrangements. Any questions or concerns, please contact the church office:

RED FROGS: There is still time to register as a Red Frogs volunteer for Schoolies this year! This is a great ministry opportunity to get involved in – a number of people from NightChurch have already signed up for programs in Byron Bay and Rye. You can also help out by buying a bottle of pancake mixture and bringing it to church either this Sunday or next Sunday to donate to the Red Frogs team.

TRIVIA NIGHT: Saturday 17 November, 7.30pm at the church hall. Fundraiser for Khmer RodeRAGE (Ride Against Greenhouse Emissions). Cost is $15 per person, book online at:

MORNING PRAYER: Every weekday the church is open from 7.30am (6.30am on Tuesdays) for prayer. You can pray together with others or just enjoy the space and silence of hanging out with God alone. A great way to start the day!

HOUSEMATE REQUIRED: Josh Hardidge (great cook and myotherapist) and Luke Gibbons (aka Gibbo) are looking for a female housemate to move in to their amazing apartment with a spacious lounge room and city views.  Looking for someone to move in mid-November, please contact Luke Gibbons if you’re interested.

25 WORDS: Bible Society is running the ‘Live Light in 25 Words’ campaign, aimed at encouraging and inspiring individuals to establish a daily habit of reading their Bibles (at least 25 words every day). You can download a 31 Day Reading Guide from the website or register to receive daily Bible verses via email:

  • Today’s verse is: “As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead”. James 2:26.

WEBSITE OF THE WEEK: The Word Detective at is the online version of a newspaper column where readers’ questions about words and language are answered.
