NightChurch News, 29 June

THIS WEEK @ NIGHTCHURCH: Paul Pallot brings us the final message in our series on 1 Thessalonians, preaching on ‘Living Out Thessalonians Today’. Dan Follent is leading the service, Mat Hunter and Kate Steel are organising the music team, Jane Horton will lead in prayer, Caz James and Simon Pickering will be praying up the back, Tom Parkinson and James Crawford are on audio/data, Ash Moore and Sarah Powys will be providing supper, and Simon Pickering is convening. Thanks everyone.

KBC CHURCH CAMP: The 2014 Kew Baptist Church Camp is only TWO weeks away – and registrations are due TODAY! Make sure you don’t miss out!! We’re heading off to Camp Wilkin in Anglesea on the weekend of July 11-13. There will be no official program, just a chance to have some rest and relaxation and to get to know each other. More info and registration can be found here on our website: https://kewbaptist.org.au/kbc-church-family-camp.

UPPER ROOM: Join us in the church hall tonight from 7.30pm for an evening of prayer and worship in song. It’s a great opportunity to intentionally set aside time to seek God, relax, and soak in Him, opening our lives to His Spirit and praying for our world and each other. For those in the midst of exams, this would be a great study break!

CARRICAL BBQ: Once a month a team from KBC puts on a BBQ dinner at Carrical Rooming House in Hawthorn (18 Mason St) – they bring along some food and spend time with the guys there, getting to know them and forming relationships with people in our local community. The next BBQ is happening on Saturday 28 June. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Grace Loh.

SHARING STORIES: On Sunday 6 July, we’re having a slightly different sort of service at NightChurch. It’s called “Sharing our Stories of Faith”, and it’s a chance for you to share about how God has worked or is working in your life with us all, to encourage us and direct us in thanking God for what he’s doing. All sorts of stories of faith would be great – joyful stories, tough stories, stories of grace, stories of struggle, stories of thankfulness. If you’d like to share something on that Sunday, please let Paul Pallot know over the next couple of weeks. If you know someone else who might have something to share, feel free to let Paul know and he is happy to ask them if they’d like to share.

ULTIMATE PEACE: Matt Hill is currently in the Middle East volunteering as a coach at the Ultimate Peace camp. Check out this video to get an idea of what it’s all about: http://vimeo.com/54248736. And if you would like to help Matt cover some of his costs by donating to the camp, you can do so here: http://www.ultimatepeace.org/bio/matt-hill/.

SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS NEEDED: Looking towards next term, we have a need for Sunday School teachers during the 10am service.  A commitment of one term (9 weeks) at a time is asked for, materials are available to follow, and support and encouragement given. No previous experience required. If you are interested in serving our families and encouraging our primary-age children in this way, Jennie Taylor or Bree Monahan would be happy to give you more information. Alternatively, Liz Pell would love to have a chat with you.

PRAYER: There is prayer at the back of the church at 5pm every Sunday. We’d love you to join with us in this important ministry!

That’s all for this edition of NightChurch News – Steve Pattison.
