NightChurch News, 5 July

This Week @ NightChurch

Over the last term, we have worked our way through Jonah, Daniel and Micah. This Sunday, to round out the series, we will hear from three different NightChurchers as they share their personal reflections about the messages of the prophets. Alice Foote is leading the service, Lauren Morgan is organising the music team, Phil Prior and Anita Pallot are on audio/data, Mel Hill will lead in prayer, Zach Moore will be providing supper, and Rachel Bakker is convening.

Dinner after NightChurch will be provided by the mighty Keele Street small group! It will be served up the back of the church building at the end of the service. Please bring $5 to help cover costs.

Week of Prayer: 19-26 July

As we move into a new term on the calendar, we will once again have a designated “Week of Prayer” as a church. You are invited to sign up for the daily Prayer Breakfasts, as well as attend the Worship & Prayer Celebration Night. Of course, prayer is not an event or a program of the church – it is a high and primary calling. Regardless of whether you can make it to these events during this week, you are encouraged to let the week be a time of reviving and renewing your prayer before God.

  • 19 July: Worship & Prayer Celebration Service (5:30pm NightChurch)
  • 20-24 July: Prayer Breakfasts in The Lounge, 7-8am Monday-Friday (upstairs in the hall)

Prison Fellowship SLAM Soccer

SLAM Soccer (Sport Lights A Message) is about bringing the hope and light of the Gospel into some of the darkest and most forgotten parts of our society, using sport to communicate God’s love in a friendly and relaxed way. Our purpose is to build relationships with those in prison and ultimately point them towards Jesus. We are currently looking for more players to join our soccer team who are keen to share God’s love in a very real and practical way. Visits are held once a month on Saturdays and alternate each month between the different male prisons in the Melbourne region. Training is held at Mitcham Baptist on Monday evenings from 7:30-9:30. (Soccer experience/skill is not essential). Contact Josh Wilson.

Staff Leave

A reminder that our Senior Pastor Nicholas Tuohy is currently on annual leave until 13 July. Our Associate Pastor Paul Pallot will also be on leave from 6 – 26 July.

Tuesday Prayer Breakfast

We run a weekly Prayer Breakfast on Tuesday mornings, 7-8am in The Lounge (upstairs in the hall). With winter here, we are serving porridge (delicious!) as part of breakfast – something to warm you up before you face the rest of the day. Don’t miss out! Remember you can also join our 5pm prayer gathering on Sundays before the service in the church building.
